Obituary for Edith Pettett
Edith R. Pettett, 91, formerly of Lacon, Sparland, and Chillicothe, Illinois, passed away at 8:43 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at her son's residence in Hardin, Kentucky, where she had been living.
Edith was born on February 26, 1921, in Lacon, Illinois, to Francis Everett Ramp and Irlene Mae (Tidmarsh) Ramp.
She had retired as a bookkeeper from the First National Bank at Chillicothe.
Mrs. Pettett was a member of the Lacon Congregational United Church of Christ in Lacon, Illinois and a member of the Congregational Church of the Valley in Chandler, Arizona.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over seventy years in Magnolia, Illinois.
Edith married Herbert "Bert" Louis Pettett on June 23, 1940, in Varna, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on December 27, 2005. They had been tour escorts with the Peoria Charter Coach for many years.
Survivors include two sons Herbert E. "Gene" Pettett of Hardin, KY and Norman A. Pettett of Mesa, AZ
five granddaughters, one step granddaughter and five great grandchildren;
and one brother Rusty Ramp, Merrifield, MN.
She was preceded in death by one son Gary L. Pettett and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at the Lacon Congregational United Church of Christ at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, with Rev. Katherine Harding officiating and burial at Lacon Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lenz Memorial Home and from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
