Obituary

Betty L. O'Guinn, 74, of Murphysboro, passed away at 8:33 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2020, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Illinois.

Betty was born on August 28, 1945, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Forest Ellis and Anna Mae (Whelchel) Ellis.

She had worked as a seamstress for DeMonulonis Brothers, a company that made band uniforms.

Mrs. O'Guinn was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Murphysboro, and a member of the Discipleship Sunday School Class. She loved to teach people about Jesus Christ. She was a member of T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and through her husband she was a member of the U.M.W.A.

Betty married Jackie Lee O’Guinn on December 7, 1974, in Murphysboro, and preceded her in death on December 4, 2008.

She is survived by one son Charles Allen of Murphysboro; her mother Anna Mae Ellis of Carbondale;

four grandchildren Nicholas Allen of Pevely, MO, Gabrielle Allen of Fostoria, OH, Rachel Allen of Murphysboro, and Megan Burge of Seattle, WA;

three great grandchildren Oliver Allen and Keaton Allen, both of St. Louis, and Lilly Burdge of Seattle, WA;

three step children Brian O'Guinn of Chico, CA, Shawn O'Guinn of Marion, and Kevin O'Guinn of Neoga, IL;

eight step great grandchildren Tyler O'Guinn, Matthew O'Guinn, Richard O'Guinn, Derick O'Guinn, Kelly O'Guinn, Keri O'Guinn, Tiffany O'Guinn, and Michael O'Guinn, and several step great great grandchildren;

one brother Elmer Ellis of Murphysboro;

and three sisters Linda Ellis of Eldorado, Arkansas, Debbie Worthen of Rome Arkansas, and Judy Butler of Murphysboro.

She was preceded in death by two sisters Barb Ellis and Doris Pizarro, two brothers and her father.

Private family gravesite services will be held at Jerusalem Cemetery, Pomona. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Nazarene, % Pettett Funeral Home, 1418 South Street, Murphysboro, Illinois 62966. For more information, please visit http://www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
