Jeffrey Lee Brothers

I've known Donnie all my life. He and my dad, Lee Brothers, have been friends for longer than I've been alive. The last time I spent any time with him, he carted dad down to Nashville for a recording session.

My earliest memory of him was of him wearing a furry Russian winter hat, of which I have always referred to it as a "Donnie Unterfer hat."

I miss you, brother.

I met Donnie in Marion,Indiana in the mid 1970s. I sang in various bands with him. Donnie was always a joy to be around. Besides always having a joke and fun to be around, the man was an incredible musician. He was a fantastic steel guitar player and he was one of the best you'd ever hear on lead guitar. He was VERY well known in the Midwest and in Nashville. His talent was very respected. His musical tastes allowed him to play all genres and he played them well!
I recently learned of his passing. My condolences to all his family and friends in Illinois. He called Illinois home, but I gotta say that singers, musicians and many friends in Indiana...considered him " Our Donnie".
Rest in peace my friend.
As always,
Sharlet
