Elizabeth "BAnn" Bowers, 86, of Murphysboro, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Manor Court in Carbondale.

She loved to knit and sold her scarves and hats at various craft fairs. In recent years you could usually find her knitting near the front entrance of the nursing home where she lived. People all over the world have purchased and wear her beautiful creations.

  Mrs. Bowers was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and St. Andrew Altar Society, as well as St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

  BAnn married Michael Bowers on February 6, 1959, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1999.

  She is survived by two daughters Denise Miller and her husband Jack Miller of Carbondale, and Lauralee Ryan of Murphysboro;

  six grandchildren and four great grandchildren Kyle and Libby Griffith and their son Collin Griffith of Decatur, GA, Ryan Griffith and his daughter Analise Griffith of Carterville, Alixandre and Jacob Weber and their son Hunter Weber of Murphysboro, Austin Beckman of Murphysboro and Bo Wooldridge of Columbia, SC, Allison Miller and Sean Beaty of Alexandria, VA, and Jack Miller, Jr and Jennifer Miller and their son Riley of Las Vegas, NV;

  and one sister in law Virginia Bowers of Murphysboro.

  She was preceded in death by two sisters in infancy Mary Ellen Graeff and Rita Kay Graeff, and her parents.

  A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2019, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating and burial will be at St. Andrew Cemetery. I was so sad when I heard, as I walked by her door, on Liberty Lane. I have always admired this lovely woman, more wo in the most recent years. B Ann and I would talk every time that I visited my dad. She would always tell me about Mom teaching her to knit. B Ann, Mike, Denise and Lauralee are apart of our family forever. Ms. B Ann will be greatly missed.
