Obituary for Evelyn Pierson (Michels)

Evelyn Pierson, 84, of Vergennes, went to be with her Lord, surrounded by her children and loving family, serenaded by the song "I'll Fly Away".

Evelyn was born on June 11, 1934 in Calhoun, Illinois, to Earl F. Michels and Agnes (Long) Michels.

She was a homemaker and then had worked as a cook at the Vergennes Grade School for eleven years. She was also a Mary Kay make up director for twenty years. She enjoyed baking, crocheting and sewing. She especially loved her grandkids and great grandkids, but she was the best Mother ever!

Mrs. Pierson was a very active member of Faith United Methodist Church in Vergennes.

Evelyn married Tross Pierson on June 16,1951, in Vergennes, and he preceded her in death on December 17, 2011.

She is survived by four children and their spouses Janet and Benny Garner of Vergennes, Charlotte and John McLaughlin of Murphysboro, Barbara and Matt Mason and Tross A. Pierson, Jr. and Molly Pierson, all of Vergennes.

eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister Fairy Hawk, five brothers Earl, Jr., Don, Bill, Jack, and her infant twin brother Charles and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Friday, January 18, 2019, at Faith United Methodist Church, in Vergennes, and burial at Parrish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 12 noon at the church. Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church or the Coulterville Rehab and Care Center. For more information, please visit Pettett Funeral Home | Murphysboro, IL
