Ewing Willie Johnson, 68, of Murphysboro, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at his residence in Murphysboro.
Ewing was born on June 3, 1951, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Willie Johnson and Irene (Kennedy) Johnson.
He had worked as a line splicer for the General Telephone Company, where he had worked for over twenty five years.
Mr. Johnson was quite an entrepreneur. He had owned both a pool hall and gas station in Murphysboro. He was a jokester.
Ewing is survived by two daughters Candace Johnson of Mt. Vernon, IL and Cassie Johnson of Murphysboro;
eight grandchildren Alyssa, Magnolia, Nolena, Hyacinth, Caitlyn, Phillip, Amaryllis, and Michael II;
one great grandson August;
one brother Deon Johnson of FL;
and two special cousins Edward Whitfield and Marcus Patterson.
He was preceded in death by one sister Bonnie Joyce Johnson and his parents.
His body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Judy Patterson officiating. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
