Obituary

Obituary for Garlin "Red" Glenn Couch

Garlin Glenn Couch, age 75, known as "Red" to everyone in the area, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2019, with his wife by his side, after fighting a good fight against lung disease.

He was survived by his wife, Shirley, and his daughter Angela, and son-in-law, Darrell.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and two brothers,

He joined the Army and served with distinction, including for a time in post-war Korea.

After leaving the Army and working in various places, he settled down in Murphysboro and worked in the school district as a custodian for 33 years until he retired.

Garlin was an avid hunter and fisherman. He competed in numerous fishing tournaments and shooting tournaments throughout his life and won several times. During retirement, when he wasn't hunting or fishing, he could be seen on his four wheeler in his fields or forests around his home, or enjoying cowboy shows on TV.

Per his wishes, there will be no services, but cards of sympathy and flowers can be sent for his family. Memorials may be made to St. Francis CARES or to the Jackson County Humane Society. For more information, please visit http://www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
