Obituary for Gerald "Jerry" Lynn Etherton

Gerald "Jerry" Lynn Etherton, 70, of Murphysboro, passed away at 3:13 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2020, at DuQuoin Rehab and Care in DuQuoin, Illinois.

Gerald was born on August 19, 1949, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Homer Etherton and (Levena) Kathryn (Cook) Etherton.

Mr. Etherton had served in the U.S. Army.

Jerry worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Environmental Services.

He loved the St. Louis Cardinals.

Jerry is survived by three children Joseph "Jody" Etherton, Angela "Angie" Bryant and her husband Brent Bryant, and Nikki Crews, all of Murphysboro;

four grandchildren James Norris, Shawn Norris, Anthony Ricketts, and Justin Masak;

and one niece Dixie Walters of Murphysboro.

He was preceded in death by one sister Brenda Walters and his parents.

His body will be cremated and a gravesite service will be held later this week at Tower Grove Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family.
