Jack Lamont Carlock, 80, of Murphysboro, passed away at 2:19 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2019, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
Jack was born on August 13, 1939, in Harrison, Illinois, to Thomas Elmer Carlock and Beulah (Akins) Carlock.
He had worked for over 10 years and was the General Manager of the former Porter Brothers in Murphysboro, and then he worked for twenty-three years as a Recreational Specialist at Menard Penitentiary before retiring.
He was an outdoors man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He played sports in high school and lettered in football and baseball. He was an avid cardinal fan.
Jack married Carole Glenn on September 15, 1957, at Pate Chapel Church in Murphysboro. She survives and they have been married sixty-two years.
Other survivors include six children Cathy Carlock of Murphysboro, Debra (Ross) Reiman of Pocahontas, IL, Sherry Carlock of Murphysboro, Janice (Dan) Elbrecht of Columbia, IL, Robert (Lisa) Carlock of Ava, and Karen Johnson of Wayne City, IL;
thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren;
and one sister Pat Crider of Benton, IL.
He was preceded in death by one son Jack Dean Carlock, one son in law Tracy Johnson, five brother, three sisters and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2019, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. James Easton officiating and burial at Dillinger Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
