Obituary for Joe Ray Law

Joe Ray Law, 80, passed away at home in the early morning hours on Wednesday July 24, 2019.

Joe was born on March 26, 1939, in Murphysboro, IL, to Ernie and Rose Law.

He was married on July 1, 1961, to Aletha Mae Mc Mannis in Gorham, IL.

He worked for Curwood in Murphysboro, IL, as a pressman, and gave them 43 years of loyal service of which he only called in twice.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Murphysboro, where he was an elder for many years. Joe enjoyed many things, gardening, wood working, a hot cup of coffee at the local Mc Donald's with friends, but most of all his family, and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Aletha Mae Law, two daughters Rena Carruthers, of Paducah KY, and, Rhonda and Randall Bryant of Murphysboro, three grandchildren Justin and Carissa Bryant, Seth Carruthers, and Danielle and Thomas Beckman, and four great-grandchildren Brantly Beckman, Gabriella Beckman, Jackson Bryant, and Lincoln Bryant, one aunt Josephine Robinson along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother John.

Services will be Saturday July 27th at 11 am at Pettett Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Sutton officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 pm and Saturday until 11. In lieu of flowers the family has asked for memorials to be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc., or to Southern Illinois Christian Service Camp in West Frankfort, IL.
