Obituary

King David Gates, age 55, passed away at 3:35 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, Illinois.

King David was born on October 2, 1964, in Carbondale, Illinois, to Howard Gates and Leasther (Sallis).

He had volunteered at a lot of places to help people.

Mr. Gates had attended the Neuman Center, Victory Church, and Calvary Church in Carbondale, Illinois.

King David Gates was a happy and outgoing people person. He loved life he love to help people he just love to put a smile on your face even if he had to tell a joke just so he can make you laugh and put a smile on your face. He went through life with his head held high always with a smile never down always uplifting people and telling everyone jokes. He never judged anyone he treating everyone equally and with the upmost respect. He poured his love on everyone King David Gates was truly an angel on earth and will forever be in our hearts

King David is survived by one son Anthony Allen of Robinson, TX;

six brothers and sisters Tommy Gates, Deloris Gates and Howard Gates, both of Carbondale, Leasther Sallis Powell of Louisville, KY, Charles McCellan of Marion, and Vincent Aidwu of NY;

Surviving aunties and uncles of King David, Henrietta Sallis of Chicago, Illinois, Johnny Johnny Ganer of Murphysboro, Illinois, Mary Bland of Murphysboro, Illinois, Eugene Bland of Marion,Illinois, and Gracie Garner of Carbondale Illinois;

two great aunts Stella and Fannie, one great uncle Benjamin;

and several nieces and nephews.

His body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held outdoors at the Victory Church located at 607 E. College Street in Carbondale, IL 62901, at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2020. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
