Obituary

Marsha N. Carter, 64, of Vergennes, passed away at 9:19 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2020, at her sister's residence in Elkville, Illinois.

Marsha was born on December 30, 1955, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Clarence Baseden and Betty (Reeves) Baseden.

Marsha had worked as the manager of Casey's and Dollar General Stores in Murphysboro, and before she retired, she was an annex teller at First Bank and Trust for sixteen years.

She like to sew, do scrape-booking, quilt and crochet, and she was the "best" cook ever!

Marsha married Louis Carter on December 1, 1973, in Elkville, Illinois, and he survives.

Other survivors include two children Mark Carter and his fiancee Jaclyn Kahrhoff, of Woodlawn, Illinois and Christine Luthy and her husband Joseph Luthy of Virginia Beach, VA;

three grandchildren Brittany Luthy, Dean Carter and Sam Carter;

three sisters Linda (Butch) Graff of Kato, IN, Mary Schuur of Elkville, and Vicki (Craig) Whittington of Willisville;

three brothers David Baseden of Murphysboro, Bill (Mary) Baseden, DeSoto, and Keith (Jennifer) Baseden of Huntingburg IN;

and lots of special nieces and nephews including Katie and Chloe.

She was preceded in death by one brother Mike Baseden and her parents.

Her body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Spangler officiating. There will be visitation from 10 to 12 noon on Saturday at the funeral home. The family would prefer that instead of flowers, memorials be made to Hope Lodge 4215 Lindell Blvd St. Louis, Missouri 63108, or to the family.
