Nancy Ann Riggio, 79, of Murphysboro, passed away at 5:48 a.m. Sunday, June 16, 2019, at st. Elizabeth Hospital in O'Fallon, Illinois.
Nancy was born on February 20, 1940, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Thomas Riggio and Teresa (Pellegrini) Riggio.
She had worked as a nurse's aid at the former Styrest Nursing Home in Murphysboro.
Ms. Riggio was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro, and a member of the Carbondale Senior Citizens.
She is survived by six children Carmella Summers of Murphysboro, Willard Eugene Pierce, Jr. of Sparta, Fred Pierce, DeLinda Pierce of Murphysboro, Mary Poenitske of Sparta, and Dale Pierce of E. Moline, IL;
six grandchildren and six great grandchildren;
and one brother Austin Riggio of Murphysboro.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Agatha Roach, Anna Mae Mathis, and Dorothy Riggio, and one brother Tom Riggio in infancy.
She will be cremated and a memorial service held 11a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Elm Street Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Allen, and visitation will be from 10 to 11 am Wednesday at the church. For more information, please visit www .pettettfuneralhome.com.
