Rosalee Austin, 80, went to meet Jesus on Saturday September 7, 2019, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.

She was born on January 29, 1939, to Claude and Rosine Foster in Anna, Illinois.

Rosalee married Robert L. Austin on January 29, 1961 at DeSoto Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2005.

Mrs. Austin was a member of the Murphysboro Senior Citizens Center, and the Kitchen Band. She was an avid music lover and piano player. She enjoyed playing the piano for the seniors at the local nursing homes and she played at the Chestnut Café in DeSoto, Illinois. She also had a love for animals, having rescued up to 7 dogs.
She is survived by one daughter Rhonda Hall of Carterville, Illinois, one granddaughter Shannon Austin Hall of Carterville Illinois, one grandson Alex Austin Hall of Carterville, Illinois; Her dog Boomer Ang Austin, two brothers Dick Foster and Jerry Foster both of Carbondale Illinois, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son Robert “Rob” Dale Austin.

The family has asked in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to any No Kill Animal Shelter.

Funeral services will be held at Pettett Funeral Home on Wednesday September 11, 2019, at 1 P.M. Visitation will be from 11 A.M to 1 P.M at the funeral home. Her body will be laid to rest at Murdale Gardens of Memory. For more information please visit

Rosalee was a blessing and she loved people. Her love for people was shown as she played the piano at nursing homes, touched every soul and went over and hugged and shook hands with as many people as she could. She was always full of life. May God bless yer family.
