Obituary for Thomas H. Vestal

Thomas H. Vestal, 74, of Murphysboro, passed away at 2:10 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019, at his residence in Murphysboro.
Thomas was born on January 24, 1945, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Robert Henry Vestal and Irene (Dameron) Vestal.
He was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the I.U.O.E. Local # 318 in Marion, and he had been a member of the hall for forty four years.
Mr. Vestal was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro. He was a member of the U.M.W.A. and had worked at the Captain and Streamline Mines.
He enjoyed going to visit their kids and grand kids, and loved traveling the U.S.A. He was an avid NASCAR fan.
Tom married Ruth Herring on January 29, 1966, in Murphysboro, and she survives.
Other survivors include a daughter Yvonne Keller of Beaufort, SC and a son Thomas “Andy” Vestal of Bluffton, SC;
two grandsons U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Thomas “Blake” (Paige) Keller of Huntingtown, MD and Corey (Kelly) Vestal-Meade of Murphysboro;
three great grandchildren Austyn Keller, Jaxson Beau Keller, and Mia Rose Vestal-Meade;
two brothers Roger Vestal Bluffton, SC and Billy Vestal of Broken Bow, OK;
and two sisters Edith Vestal of Bluffton, SC and Anna Vestal of Conroe, TX;
nieces and nephews.
He was also a brother in law to four sisters in law, Alberta, Faye, Kim, and Ina, and one brother in law Ron Herring.
He was preceded in death by one sister Janet Childers and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2019, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Josemon Hoem officiating and burial at Murdale Gardens of Memory. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 am at the church. The family would prefer memorials to be made to the Immanuel Lutheran School Building Fund.
