W. Wayne Hankins, 88, of Murphysboro, passed away at 6:18 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at Manor Court of Carbondale.
Wayne was born on March 13, 1930, in Harrisburg, Illinois, to Lyman Hankins and Lillian (Schwartz) Hankins.
He worked in Murphysboro at E. Blankenship Auto Parts, Inc. for over fifty years, where he served as manager for thirty five years.
Mr. Hankins was a Christian by faith.
Wayne married (Mary) Fern Hankins on April 16, 1949, in Morganfield, Kentucky, and she preceded him in death on November 15, 2018.
He is survived by two children Ron Hankins and Debbie (Bobby) Woosley, all of Murphysboro;
and he was preceded in death by his daughter in law Deborah Hankins.
Other survivors include five grandchildren Misty (Jim) Butler, Alison (Eric) Hankins, Ryan (Lesley) Hankins, Billy (Amanda) Woosley, and Brent (Jacy) Woosley;
seven great grandchildren Taylor Hankins, Karlie Butler, Van Woosley, Cama Woosley, Lane Woosley, Dylan Hankins, and Maylie Woosley;
and two brothers Gene (Linda) Hankins of Marion and Jim (Pat) Hankins of Newton, IL.
He was preceded in death by one brother Kenneth Hankins, twin sisters in infancy, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Pettett Funeral Home and burial will be at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park.
